NW Flooding

As you may heard via the media much of the western Pacific NW experienced several storms this past weekend that resulted in flooding and disaster in many areas. Our family and most of those around us are fine and the most we lost was hot water 3 or 4 times on Monday since the wind kept blowing out the pilot light on the hot water heater. Hwy 217, just a couple of miles from here was closed at Allen Blvd. due to flood water covering all of the north bound lanes. This seemed a little close for comfort. Fanno Creek, that's the creek that runs through Greenway Park, next to the Albertson's store where Brad worked in high school overflowed it's banks and was very close to flooding Hall Blvd in front of the store. The Oregon coast was extremely hard hit and many areas, including Lincoln City and Astoria were without power for several days. The small town of Vernonia, about 35 miles from here, was almost totally wiped out. They still have limited to no telephone service, power, gas for cars and generators and their only grocery store was heavily damaged. Many, many homes and businesses were heavily damaged, as well as all three of their schools. The students will be out of school until at least January and possible longer. Hwy 30 going through St. Helen's was closed because of water covering the road on Monday afternoon. Just north of here, in the state of Washington the I5 freeway between Portland and Seattle has been shut down since Monday afternoon and is not expected to reopen until this weekend at the earliest.

glad to know you are okay. that is just a bizarre amount of water to fall out of the sky.

Global warming.
